Founded in 1905, by the joint efforts of the organists of the Chapel Royal at Hampton Court, Kingston Parish Church and St. Alban’s Church, Teddington (now the Landmark Arts Centre), Kingston-upon thames is the oldest music society in Kingston. We are an SATB group of 30-35 singers, with sight-reading ability, which meets monthly (usually the first Saturday) from October to March. Members meet to sight-read and sing English madrigals informally and do not normally give public performances. The Society has gradually built up a library of over 180 madrigals, of which about eight are sung at each meeting, usually including one anthem to begin. We welcome singers of all abilities, though the ability to read sheet music is necessary.
