The Cappella Singers enjoy singing a wide range of music from the renaissance to the present day. Although mostly singing classical music - a mix of sacred and secular, we also sing folk music, spirituals and some jazzier pieces too! We often have organ or piano accompaniment in our concerts, and have sung with a range of instrumental ensembles and harp. We are a friendly choir who share an interest in singing together and sharing our music with the local community. CONCERTS: We usually perform at the end of each term, with other opportunities taken according to demand and availability. We often invite other local musicians and children's choirs to perform with us to inspire the next generation of choral singers.
The Cappella Singers of Upminster, based in Upminster, Essex, is an amateur, mixed voice chamber choir. The choir has been singing in Upminster and the surrounding area for over 50 years, and enjoys singing a wide range of music from the renaissance to the present day. Although mostly singing classical music, members enjoy singing folk music and some jazzier pieces too! Despite the name, not all our concerts are “a cappella” (unaccompanied). We often have organ or piano accompaniment, and have sung with a range of instrumental ensembles and harp. Neither do we only sing sacred music as implied by the Italian translation of Cappella (chapel), but perform a mix of both sacred and secular works.
