Our membership is open to anyone who volunteers in sport from grass roots to elite sport. Many of the members have been part of an international event including Olympics, Paralympics, World Cups but also Park Runs and local 10Ks, and they continue to volunteer in sport. A love of sport and volunteering is what bonds us. If that's you, please do get in touch. We would love to meet you. Our members vary from 30 to 80 years of age. Our repertoire is fun and varied and we aim to find interesting performances related to sport, Britishness, London and volunteering - they are always interesting and sometimes at exciting events and venues. Our aim is always to surprise and delight our audience. We are fortunate to have a fantastic MD in Christopher Killerby, ably supported by Jane Mitchell. We are a non auditioned choir and will help you with everything you need to become part of the choir as quickly as you are able. We offer lots of online resources and have a fantastic and responsive music team on hand to answer any questions you may have. Lots of our members have not been part of a choir before and do not read music so learn by rote. We often record our rehearsals so they can be shared and used for learning between sessions. Please note we rehearse monthly as people travel from far and wide due to the nature of our original membership. It works well. We offer a FREE taster session so you can meet us and see how you fit in. We're a friendly and welcoming bunch and everyone that has ever come to a taster has joined us!
The Games Maker Choir is formed of over 70 Games Makers who volunteered at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and subsequent global sporting events. We were formed at The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park by a young, volunteer Games Maker at London 2012 and have been performing for British sport at some of the biggest sporting events and venues ever since. Our appearances include The World and Para World Athletics Championships, Rugby World Cup, BBC Sport Relief, Women’s Hockey World Cup, The Rugby League World Cup, England Rugby, the Aviva Premiership Rugby to name just a few. We are The Choir for Sport representing the best of sports volunteers. Performing contemporary repertoire we always aim to surprise and delight our audiences. We rehearse once a month in SW London and offer a free taster rehearsal.
