Founded in 2011, WCC is a local, non-auditioned mixed voice community choir, meeting weekly in central Wimbledon. We love singing a variety of musical styles and genres, from Mozart to McCartney and perform regularly in the local area, often in partnership with other ensembles and orchestras. The choir offers a warm, friendly community and a supportive approach to developing choral skills and musicianship. Singing together is a joy we want to share and new members are welcomed at any time over the year. Our large tenor and bass sections mean we can tackle a wide range of 4 part-work and we have commissioned a number of new pieces over the past 12 years.
WCC is a large SATB community choir based in central Wimbledon. Founded in 2011, the choir rehearses weekly and performs regularly in the local area and as part of larger collaborations with local orchestras and ensembles. It's wide repertoire includes folk, classic pop, 'groove' jazz and gospel, musical theatre and both traditional and contemporary choral music. It's core mission is to champion the joy of singing and making music with others, as part of a warm, friendly and supportive community. The choir is un-auditioned and welcomes members with a range of musical skills and previous choral experience, from never to forever! Through its close link with Merton Music Foundation, Merton's leading Music Hub, the choir has commissioned a number of new pieces and performed at prestigious events and venues including the Royal Albert Hall.
