We are a high-achieving parish choir of around 20 members providing music for the local population of Barnes and the parishioners of St. Michael's Church, singing as part of our Sunday morning worship. Working with international solo singer and conductor Laurence Williams, we sing a wide variety of repertoire from Palestrina, Byrd, Stanford, through to modern commissions. Friendship is at the heart of the choir and many members enjoy this social aspect as much as the singing. We have been recently attracting ex-choral scholars from universities who enjoy the singing of music for services. We have a strong emphasis on education, and are assisted by choral and organ scholars from local schools. The choir spans all age groups and various musical abilities. Sight-reading ability is important but not crucial and help can be offered with this. We meet most Wednesday's to rehearse and again on Sunday morning's for our weekly service. Not all services need to be attended to be a member of the choir. Special services around Easter and Christmas are a highlight we all enjoy as a community.
The Choir of St. Michael's and All Angel's, Barnes is a choir of around 20 volunteer members who provide music for services at the Church. Rooted in the liberal anglo-catholic tradition, we sing choral music from across the ages from plainchant through to premiering new works. We have gained a reputation in Barnes as a leading choir and are well supported by the congregation and local community. The choir also sings concerts from time to time and is looking to tour in the near future.
