The Sing for Freedom Choir is a remarkable community of torture survivors and friends across London who sing together in a spirit of joy and hope, in solidarity with all those who are oppressed. We offer members a joyful community of friendship founded in music, and delight audiences with our unique and life-enhancing performances. We sing a wide range of songs from around the globe, in different languages, reflecting the diversity of our membersehip. We are involved with many wonderful and unique collaborations with artists, musicians and ensembles from all backgrounds, including the Kings Singers, the Orchestra of Syrian Musicians and the London Arab Band, as well as regular performances with our sister choir, the Mixed Up Chorus. We have performed at Milton Court in the Barbican, the Tower of London, the Southbank Centre, Tilbury Carnival, Union Chapel and Islington Town Hall, amongst others. All our songs are taught by ear, so you don’t need to read music or be an experienced singer. We have practice recordings, so you can also learn by singing along at home. All voices are welcome. We welcome new members in January, April and September and would love you to join us!
Together Productions is a ground-breaking social change organisation based in the UK. We produce innovative collaborative arts projects that connect people, organisations and audiences across social and cultural divides. We use music and the arts as a catalyst to break down barriers, reduce isolation and enhance well-being. We produce high quality artistic work that is grown through creative collaboration, participation and experimentation. Our work includes those who are marginalised or excluded, such as displaced people and those seeking sanctuary, people facing mental health challenges, the elderly, the financially disadvantaged and socially excluded. We know that choirs are an incredible way to build community, improve mental health and build empathy and therefore choral singing is a big part of our work.
Choirslist London lists choirs across its 33 boroughs.
