The British Gospel Arts Choir, led by Andrea Encinas (Creative Director), is all about creating a welcoming space where anyone with a love for gospel music can join in—no auditions needed. Members range in age from their 20s to their 60s, and come from all kinds of cultural backgrounds, which gives the choir a really warm, family feel. People look out for one another, and that sense of community is just as important as the music itself. At the same time, the choir is a place to grow: it’s designed to help singers develop their voices, gain confidence, and even prepare for bigger gospel opportunities down the line. Their motto, “putting the soul into choral music,” really captures what they’re about—bringing heart, passion, and authenticity into every performance.
British Gospel Arts Choir is a membership choir specialising in training people in the art of gospel singing. Our repertoire spans traditional and contemporary styles across all African diasporic genres - African American, Caribbean, African British - and African. Training includes understanding the origins of gospel music, the dynamics of the gospel voice as a lead singer and in a choir and gospel choir performance.
Choirslist London lists choirs across its 33 boroughs.
