Barnet Choral Society was founded in 1940 and currently has around 80 members. We provide an opportunity to learn and enjoy choral music in a relaxed and positive atmosphere with occasional workshops that are usually open to all interested singers. We are a non-auditioned, adult choir and welcome singers of all abilities with a mix of material which we hope will suit everybody. Our repertoire has ranged from old to new, from sacred works to opera choruses and folk songs, from light-hearted to serious and from straightforward to difficult. Performing mainly in Barnet we give four concerts a year using professional soloists and orchestras where appropriate.
Barnet Choral Society was founded on 1 August 1940. It is a non-auditioned choir with an inclusive approach and a tradition of caring for individual members. There are around 70 members who rehearse weekly from September to June, when we endeavour to make music of a high standard. The choir welcomes singers of all ages and experience, and ability to read music is helpful but is not essential or expected. BCS encourages members to try a wide range of music and has itself commissioned four works. We offer a challenging programme of four concerts a year, with professional soloists, including at least one performance of a major work accompanied by a professional orchestra.
Choirslist London lists choirs across its 33 boroughs.
