'I have found it a joy to be part of such a wonderful organisation' says a recent new member. Please consider joining our lively and inclusive amateur choir which performs with a professional orchestra and soloists. You will be most comfortable with us if you can read music and some sightreading ability is helpful, but support is available through vocal coaching and two free group singing lessons each term. We rehearse every Thursday, with additional Wednesdays as concert dates approach. Try our free taster rehearsals - we look forward to meeting you.
We are a friendly, talented and versatile amateur choir with a reputation for performances of a high standard. We are also particularly proud of introducing relaxed afternoon performances for some programmes. Since our founding in 1977, we have developed exciting and ambitious concerts drawing on choral repertoire from the last 500 years, as well as commissioned work from contemporary composers. We benefit hugely from the expertise of our Musical Director Murray Hipkin, who has enjoyed a long professional career at ENO, and our vocal coaches Yvette Bonner and Mark Oldfield. We offer a warm welcome to new singers and have many social gatherings as well as an annual weekend workshop where we work on a variety of music and enjoy an evening cabaret showcasing our members' many talents! We are looking for new members in all parts and invite you to try out a rehearsal with us.
