Casina Singers is musically-ambitious while being based firmly in our local community. We have a wealth of musical experience: all of the singers are professional musicians or experienced amateurs. Our group includes a composer, an ex-lay clerk, performers, teachers, instrumentalists, and singers from musical theatre backgrounds. All potential members are informally auditioned to keep standards high. This ensures our singers have a strong musical ear and good reading ability. We’re committed and flexible - not everyone can make every rehearsal, but everyone can be relied on to be performance-ready. We’re involved in about 5 events per year. We meet to rehearse on Wednesday evenings, and perform on a Sunday evening once a term. We also support our host venue St Faith’s, by singing at a couple of services each year. Our concert programmes are varied. The music we select is mainly (but not exclusively) classical, and ranges from medieval composers like Byrd through to contemporary composers like Judith Weir. We include music by under-represented composers. We have fun rehearsals and always want to do more!
Casina Singers offers quality choral singing in a local setting. Ambitious musicianship, captivating music, and short convenient performances. Led by MD Elspeth Wyllie, many of the singers are professional musicians in a different context (composers, singers in non-classical genres, organists, teachers) or amateurs with excellent musicianship. Concerts feature mainly classical music from medieval to modern, including music by under-represented composers. Performances last under an hour, with dedicated time for socialising with the audience! Casina Singers rehearses and performs at St Faiths North Dulwich which boasts a gorgeous acoustic and community setting. It straddles the boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark, is close to the south circular and well-connected by rail and bus to several South London postcodes.
Choirslist London lists choirs across its 33 boroughs.
