James Allen’s Choral Society (JCS) is a friendly adult choir that was set up to provide mature voices in support of the girls at James Allen’s Girls’ School but that also has a musical life of its own. We offer our members the opportunity to learn and enjoy a wide range of choral music in a friendly atmosphere. Our weekly term-time rehearsals held at JAGS in Dulwich are both fun and hardworking. We give three major performances a year, and these often take place in beautiful London venues such as Southwark Cathedral and Cadogan Hall. Membership is open to all, irrespective of affiliation with the school. New voices are always welcome and no audition is required.
Originally founded to recruit male voices to support the all girls school choir at James Allens Girls School, the choir is independent of the school and has a wide community membership, in all four voice parts, not just basses and tenors. We also gain from having the JAGS Director of Music as our conductor and the schools facilities to rehearse in. We perform with the school choir twice a year in great locations such as Southwark Cathedral and Cadogan Hall and do one independent concert in the summer term.
Choirslist London lists choirs across its 33 boroughs.
